The book recently took a little trip to Paris.....time to relax, reflect, see the sights.....and get a thousand more kinds of awesome!!

Firist up, another addition by our pal, zee French Artist, Stephane Roux!

And as if that wasn't enough.....how about a piece by the master, co-creator and artist of the amazing BLACKSAD, Juanjo Guarnido!!

I'm speechless........

After what was obviously a rather special vacation, the book is back in the US, and ready to get going again.....kicking back off with a swing through Georgia.

Volume 2 Begins!!

Here we go, folks.......Volume 2 of the Tim Sale Travel Sketchbook is officially underway!

For those who are new to the project, here's a quick recap of our mission:

What it is: A group of friends and fellow Tim Sale board members have gotten together and decided to create a community sketchbook. Each participant will draw their piece in the book, and then pass it on to the next artist. Once everyone has completed their drawing, the book will go to Tim for safe keeping.

This idea was born on Tim's official message board while discussing the incredibly brilliant (and wonderfully bold) endeavor know as SketchTravel. Please check out http://www.sketchtravel.com/ to see why we were so inspired.

Even though we said we were done....we actually still had one more artist to add to our little book. Done just before the "wrap party" in Baltimore, the final addition to the Tim Sale Travel Sketchbook (Volume One), by Tim's better half, the lovely and talented, Christina!

Christina is not yet finished with her self-portrait, but I'll get that up here as soon as it's ready. (In the meantime, you can see just about any Tim Sale Catwoman drawing for her (not self) portrait.)

Steve and Nick are working hard on the videos, and we'll have some more updates soon....not to mention some talk of Volume Two!

The title says it all! It's been over a year now since we started this book, and it's been all over the world. I wasn't always sure that we'd be able to make it in time to have the project finished for our offical "wrap party" in Baltimore....but we did it.

I am very proud of this book, and very proud of the friendship and love that it represents. Thank you, everyone!

So, here it is! A final message from our resident rockstar, and fearless leader, Mr. Tim Sale!

*UPDATE*

The Ninja revealed! While John was busy with the party preparations in Baltimore....I was able to snap a few photos of his top secret contribution to the sketchbook. Among other little touches throughout, John added some interactive pop-up art as his main piece, a self portrait, several uncut sheets of the first ever Tim Sale Board trading cards, and "The Knothole Gang".....a collection of self portraits from some of Tim's friends in the industry.

I am very sad to report that our beloved book may be in great danger.

Jackie and Dave were planning our very first "in person" hand off of the book....at Downtown Disney of all places. Dave met up with Miss Jackie, and all seemed well, until......

Jackie put up a hell of a fight, but she was unable to overpower the crazy hook wielding pirate. And now, our book may be lost forever......unless, of course, Dave can friggin' man-up and find this sick bastard!

Guido Gets Some Help......

For the past couple of weeks our book found a home in the beautiful town of Breda....in the hands of our very own Guido de Bue. Guido made his contribution with this great self portrait:

For Guido's art assignment, he enlisted the help of professional Dutch artists Romano Molenaar & Yorg de Vos! Romano & Yorg were visiting the store that Guido manages in Breda, promoting their new book STORM (a famous Dutch Sci-Fi series).

Romano decided to keep with one of our themes for the book, and produced this wonderful self-portrait:

Yorg was up next, and as a fan of the European Western Strip "Blueberry", went with a gunslinger:

Feeling a bit intimidated about drawing (and who wouldn't after seeing Kelly's?), our lovely and talented resident photographer, Lauren O'Keefe, decided to push the limits of our 'mixed media' guideline and used this absolutely beautiful photograph as her contribution to the book.

A wonderful addition to the book, and a perfect representation of Lauren's passion and talent. And as an added bonus, she didn't shy away from the pencil completely.....check out the self portrait!

After some clicking, cropping, pasting and wrapping, our book is off to The Netherlands!
